Our beautiful stone Villa "Sunshine" is just 25 minutes drive from Funchal on excellent motorway - Via Rapida. Our friend and agent Ezekiel will show you where the house is and can arrange transport from the airport if you prefer. As you approach the property there is a gated area and an inside private car port. The road level accesses direct the ground floor into 2 bedrooms and the ground floor living, sitting area, kitchen, bathroom and pool, so you don't have to heave luggage up and down stairs. An internal and external (this one independent beside the house in front of the car port) staircases leads to the First floor living accommodation with double sitting areas, 2 bethroom (one En-Suite), balcony and big glass windows facing the faboulous ocean and mountain view. The kitchen is modern and complete, For cooking outside there is a portable barbecue, garden table and sunchairs. Satellite TV and DVD player are installed. Just 5 mins drive away you will find the only sandy beach in Madeira. You should visit just to see the sunset.
Rental periods

Carnival: February or March. Very large celebration in Funchal.

Changeover day
Monday is usual on the island because all charter airlines are Monday but we are prepared to be flexible, particularly on bookings of 2 weeks and above.
Accommodation
Bedrooms:
Bedroom 1 has twin beds (state of the art shower) and big wardrobe. Located in the ground floor.
Bedroom 2 has one double bed and a wall wardrobe. Located in the ground floor. Has direct access to the beautiful pool area.
Bedroom 3 has one double bed and a wall wardrobe. Has a very large glass window with panoramic views over the sea and town. Located in the First floor.
Bedroom 4 is the main bedroom suite (state of the art shower). Has one double bed and large wall wardrobes. Has a very large glass window with panoramic views over the sea and town. Located in the First floor.
Bathrooms: In the First Floor; En suite to bedroom 4 with a bath and shower and a service bathroom A second bathroom. In the Ground floor there is a service shower bathroom.
Kitchen: The kitchen includes a hob, microwave, and oven, a fridge/freezer. There are lots of cupboards and full cutlery etc are included.
Laundry room: With washing machine.
Living Rooms: They are 2 double living rooms; The ground floor Living room has a very large refectory table and 8 chairs and 3 double sofas for 6 capacity. The First Floor living area has a 3 sofas suite and table with 4 chairs. Satellite TV and DVD are installed and there are a few DVDs. Guests can also swap their books if they wish. As well thetere is large balcony.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid service: Each room has 2 complete sets of bed linen and bathroom towels. The house will be serviced weekly. Rubbish should be bagged and if you feel like a walk taken to the nearby disposal point. There are 2 pool towels per person.

Outside
The villa has a big space in the front enter and approached via the pool terrace, All this area a very nice place to be outdoors. On the this ground level the kitchen, maind enter door, one bedroom, laundry room and living room opens out onto a covered patio with the pool. The pool is approx 5x8m and 1.5 m deep with steps to get in or out and an starcase in aluminium. There is a large tiled area round the pool. 1 loungers and a table with 4 chairs. Beside the pool there is a small garden and if you swim from the pool you can see the see as a cristal infinity pool.
Coast/Beach
There are no natural sand golden beaches in Madeira but one has been created only 5 mins drive away. The rocky beaches are great for snorkelling or scuba diving. The fish are wonderful and the waters clear.
Travel
Funchal is the only airport on the island and it is approx. 45 mins from the house. We recommend hiring a car at the airport but keep it small. Once off the main roads Madeira roads are narrow.
Distances
The house is in the village of Arco da Calheta, only 25 minutes drive to Funchal and all it offers. It is a great location for walkers.
Further details
Arco da Calheta is a very attractive village which has a social centre, cafes and a number of small supermarkets which sell everything you need. The locals reckon that Arco da Calheta has the best micro-climate of all! It’s a quiet location – you are more likely to hear the neighbours’ dogs and chickens than traffic. The Calheta Beach Hotel which is down by the beach has a spa which the public can use and there is a leisure centre, banks, a big supermarket named "Pinco Doce" and the Iates marina with their restaurants. Driving towards Funchal you will find Madelena do Mar where there are restaurants and bars and a rocky beach. Further on is Ribeira Brava, with another rocky beach. There is also a small market, a large supermarket, banks and a number of restaurants.
Booking notes
Booking is through our agent Ezekiel. You will be asked to transfer the deposit and balance to our bank in Madeira. Half the total price will be paid on booking and the remainder six weeks before the rental takes place. The deposit is non returnable. You will be asked for a refundable deposit of 100 euros on arrival to cover breakages.
